Hello! I am looking for fabric similar to the one pictured: a mix of stripes and small geometric symbols. is there a name for this type of print? I've done a lot of googling but no luck. thank you.

Off hand I would have said it's a Civil War print.
|
The name “shirting” fabric comes to mind. Tiny prints that were used to make men’s shirts about 150 years ago.
|
It definitely does look like a civil war fabric.

The design is woven in, so we call it a "woven." Moda makes quite a few wovens, Corey Yoder recently had a whole line of pastel colored wovens that were beautiful. Here's a link with some pictures. https://blog.fatquartershop.com/how-...h-corey-yoder/
Diamond Textiles also makes some beautiful wovens. https://www.google.com/search?q=Dimo...biw=1600&hl=en Other wovens are muted colors and used for the background of wool applique. |
It looks like it could ba a Japanese indigo fabric?
|
It looks like a Moda print to me, possibly Lori Holt or another Riley Blake designer, because of the bright aqua. Riley Blake uses lots of bright aqua.

Do you actually have a piece of this fabric? Just curious. Depending on the weight and the weave as well as the size of the pattern it could be one of a variety of fabrics. I tend to say Civil War? era print but as Tartan said - Japanese woven is a possibility as well. Kathy Hall (Andover) has a series of tiny lines and prints for Andover Jo Morton has a few similar as well as Moda - while these are not identical they might fill the bill so to say!!
