Any Advice/Info about a Pfaff 7530?
 

Good evening fellow sewers. I am a long-time lurker, new member and I just agreed to buy at Pfaff 7530 from Craig's List for $325. I thought that this would be the place to come for advice/warnings. I have had a Viking Designer 1 and then SE for many years, and just bought a Babylock embroidery machine. I have never lost the lust for a Bernina with BSR and dual feed, but I am fresh out of money from the Babylock - lol! After I found out that you still need a walking foot for the newer Berninas with dual feed, I thought, why not go to the original dual feed and try a Pfaff and maybe just rent the Quitling machine with BSR at my LQS on the few occasions that I need that? Soooo, I found this Pfaff 7530 for sale on Craig's list. It has the Creative Designer pad thingy with it, but I don't know what it is and/or if I will ever need that. I'm also confused because I thought the embroidery machine was the 7570 model?

To the point, I am happy to accept any advice or suggestions about this machine. Is this a terrible idea? I know it's a risk given it's age and computer problems, etc. but it seemed like it might be worth the risk for that price?

I've never had a Pfaff so have no recommendation. Do you know if it has been serviced recently? In our area, it's about $150.00 to get them to look at a machine. If any of the computerized parts are out, then the cost goes up quickly. I'd bring fabric and sew on the machine before I paid any money for it. I did Google the machine and one website says it was one of the last models made in Germany, so that could mean good things for all the mechanical parts.

I had a Pfaff 7530. I loved that machine. It was a real workhorse and never gave me any trouble for 20 years. I traded it in 4 years ago only because I wanted more throat space. The IDT is great as you can use your 1/4 inch foot with it for accurate piecing. It did good fmq, too. It’s a crap shoot buying an older computerized machine, but if you get lucky you will not regret owning a 7530.

When my 7570 died & I cried. Best machine ever for me. Pfaff no longer supports these machines (7530 included).

I have a Pfaff 7510, and I love it! The 7500 series machines are really great machines. :)

I have a 7570, fabulous machine. Can't wind a bobbin now, as long as the mother board continues to work I will be okay. I have heard that mother boards for my machine are no longer available. Not sure if that is true or not!!!

I sold Viking D1s and SEs a long time ago.and almost bought a used D1 but ended up buying a used Pfaff 2058 because of the IDT. If the machine is in good shape you will get many years out of it. You will love sewing with the IDT. Since then I have bought a 2170, Creative 2.0 and a Creative Performance (all used btw) ..... so you might say I'm sold on Pfaffs (lol).

If it is local to you, ask where the machine was last serviced and when. And of course sew on it - try as many features as you can (straight stitch, zig zag, all the buttons, needle up/down if it has one ...). Here is a link to the manual

You may want to see what accessories and feet came with it and see what the person still has. Don't have a clue what the Creative Designer pad thing is .... almost sounds like some sort of embroidery thing?? You could just call a Pfaff dealer and ask?? Good luck with you decision
