looks like a Japanese clone of a Singer 15.

Nice machine, and I personally am leaning more towards machines in cases or bases like that. I think Leon is right, looks like a Singer 15 Clone, if you search the QB for that you'll find lots of information, including a generic manual.

Yes, it is a 15-clone. There are others shown at https://www.quiltingboard.com/pictur...p-t164361.html There are some machines that are actually 15 class machines and not actually clones. A manual can be found at http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_mach...ion-manual.pdf It is very similar to a Singer 15-90, as it has an external motor. There are some slight differences between the clones and the Singer 15s. Some of the clones have the drop feed knob on the bed of the machine. Another difference for the clones is that the needle is inserted and threaded opposite the Singer machines.

I'm curious if there is a JA or JC number some where on the machine.

There are many that like these machines for free motion quilting and for piecing quilts.
