Needlecraft Sewing Machine

I have a Needlecraft Deluxe sewing machine. From all I have read it is Japanese made. I can't find a year of manufacture but do have a serial number? It is J344837. Does anyone have any idea if Needlecraft is a manufacturer's name or the model?

Many Japanese manufacturers produced machines "badged" with several different labels. For instance, Happy Sewing Machine made most of Montgomery Wards machines. You will find that many different brands of machines were made by Toyota. No records were kept by the manufacturers as to manufacturing date.

Some Japanese machines have a "JA" or " JC" (or both) number cast on the bottom of the machines that indicate the manufacturer. Here is an explanation of those numbers. Scroll down a little bit to get all the information as this is in the middle of a long page.

It is likely a clone of a Singer 15 if it has a tensioner on the faceplate. Other SSingers were cloned but teh 15 was teh most popular. If you can post a pic we can help a bit more. but basically all we can say per date is post WW II.

Welcome. As Leon suggested a picture would be helpful. As bkay mentioned about the JA and JC numbers will sometimes be helpful. Many of the 15 clones do not have a JA or JC number.

You can learn more about the 15 clones at https://www.quiltingboard.com/vbulle...p-t164361.html There was also a Needlecraft pictured at https://www.quiltingboard.com/vbulle...s-t131086.html unfortunately the sewusa links are no longer valid. There is a thread about badged machines at https://www.quiltingboard.com/vintag...s-t207877.html

We like pictures. In order to post pictures on Quilting Board, you will probably need to reduce or compress the picture to a file size that is smaller than 2MB. How to post images can be found at https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...020-01-17-.pdf
Don't forget to scroll over to the far right to find and click on the "Upload" button.

I have found that only the big red "Reply" button or "Quote" work to give me the paper clip icon to work for adding pictures.

Some additional info regarding reducing images at post #4 and images for the scroll and upload button can be found at #5 of quilt block ID?

Or simply - Make sure pictures are smaller than 2MB
Click on red "Reply" button
Click on the paper clip icon
Click browse - choose picture/s. (only 5 allowed per post)
Once they show up as being loaded, Scroll over to the right side and click on "Upload"
After the pictures show up as being attached, you can close that window and go back to the screen to finish posting your post.
