Leonardo de Vinci quilt
4 Attachment(s)
I finished my 3rd sketch quilt. I was so excited to finally have it done. The chalk marks show where I had to sew it for it to look the way I wanted.
I handsewed with 2 layers of stitching (shallow and medium) and machine stitch for more depth and to stabilize the quilt to give it the 3D faux-trapunto effect. I started it in October so glad it's done. It has 2 layers of batting - cotton and acrylic so it has a nice weight and is warm! Each time I make a sketch quilt it's an experiment because I haven't seen other quilts like this. |
Absolutely gorgeous!!

Wow, stunning! Can you tell us more about sketch quilts? Is the sketch something you draw? Is it a panel? I am sure others also want to know.

If anyone has seen this technique before please let me know. |
I have seen it done. A friend of mine used to do a good deal of it with machine stitching.
Yours is very pretty. |
Lovely piece!

So beautiful! Love that you found a way to enhance a DaVinci drawing into a textured quilt. I wish I could see it in person.
