maybe dumb question

Is it possible to downsize a 16 foot frame to a 12 foot frame. Don't have room for a 16. Sound crazy? Any comments, ideas?

I would imagine it depends on the frame. Mine comes in sections. I can set it up in 4 ft, 8 ft, 12 ft or16 ft. - each bar is slid together in 4 foot sections. I would guess unless it was homemade as all one unit they are adjustable

What about the table?

There are LA that come in twelve foot sizes.

My table is in pieces that fit together too. It is totally adjustable-
do you already have this 16 foot frame? If not, shop around there are lots of options

that is a huge frame. If you could contact the manufacturer, they might have some ideas or could tell you how much a replacement table would be. What I know, it is almost 50% of the price of the everything. Another possibility would be if there is a metal working shop that might be able to shorten it for you, or you could see if there is anyone out there who would like to trade with you for a 12 foot table. Mine has solid rollers which I like as they are very sturdy. An earlier table I had was in sections and made of aluminum. They sagged after a while. I never have done a quilt where I needed more than the 12 feet I have and I have done some king sized quilts.
Just read your post again, is this a hand quilting frame or a longarm frame?

I believe that is going to be specific to the machine/table you are using. mine came with the option of either 5 foot or 8 foot and has a 4 foot extension that can be added as well.

Big frame. Mine is in sections even the table so I can remove or add sections. I don't know about other brands. I have an HQ Avante.

Ah, that’s cool and a great idea. Thanks!
