1881 Singer Model 12 MOP - Cabinet refinish

Happy Mother's Day to all sewing mom's out there!

Last year I found this pristine 1881 Singer Model 12. But ever since I got it I was never happy with the table that it came in. The table was missing a set of drawers and the table extension.....and some one had spilled the indian ink on the table top and coffin top. They had reveneered the top with cheap veneer and didn't do a very good job of refinishing the cabinet. Since the machine is pristine I was just never satisfied with the cabinet.
Two weeks ago I acquired this cabinet with a few other model 12's (including a hand crank MOP). I've refinished this cabinet with the intent of bringing it back to life but still keeping it's old look (no marks were standed out.....actually no sanding was done at all). The only thing I reveneered was the back of one drawer frame (belt side) because the veneer was too far gone.
Now my 1881 Model 12 MOP has a period correct cabinet that I think is worthy of the machine.

I added a post on my blog that has more pics and an explanation of refinishing of the cabinet.

I'm in awe. What an extraordinary piece of work. Congratulations on having achieved this level of skill. The hours you must have put in to learn these skills were well spent indeed!

That cabinet is so gorgeous! I admire your talent.

That's beautiful! I can see why you wanted a nice cabinet with that machine. Dare I say "Keep up the good work!"?

Thanks for the kind words everyone. The funny thing is I don't consider myself a wood worker. I'm kinda learning as I go!

We are all learning, but your work is stunning. Do we get to see pics of the HC, too?

Unfortunetly, the hand crank MOP was missing it's base and hand crank. The ower had purchased it thinking that it would fit in the cabinet but the belt guard on a hand crank model 12 is different than a treadle model 12. They quickly found out that the belt guard wouldn't line up with the belt hole in the cabinet. The machine is not in great condition but it is a MOP! See pic below.

I do have another 1881 Model 12 MOP that's almost identical to the one in this original post. Pictures of it can be found on my blog at the link below.
