Quilt Suspension System
Hey Y'all,
I've been pondering a Quilt Suspension System for a while, but just got an email advertisement from Sew Steady about their new system. 2 clamps are approx. $60 which sounds reasonable. I don't see any reviews on it yet. Sooo, I'm tossing it out there - has anyone seen this system? Any thoughts? Are suspension systems (any brand) worth having? Thanks! Donna Mc |
They can be. It depends on how fast you move from one part of your quilt to another and how large a quilt you are working on. I have used home made suspension systems for years and sometimes I find them to be very helpful and other times they slow me down because of needing to stop and readjust the clamps. My current system for my Sweet Sixteen consists of two of those L shaped poles that dog groomers clamp onto tables, four bungee cords and four clamps. I use it when I'm doing dense micro quilting on very large quilts. Otherwise, I find that it really slows me down to have to stop and readjust my clamps whenever I want to move to another section of my quilt. Something like the weightless quilter with the flexible poles might be different- hard to say. You might want to try some out if you can find someone who has one set up.

Leah Day used to have videos of her system, which used clamps and bungees etc. Might be worth a look?

Years ago I bought the Jennloop Suspension system and it worked well for me, Thinking they are no longer being made as I haven't seen any advertisements for them in years.. Then I upgraded to the small Grace frame and have stuck with it. Tried to sell the Jennloop a couple months ago on Facebook and had no takers. It still sits on the sunporch.

Patsy Thompsons suspension system IS great. It is now $134.00 plus shipping. I love this system. Check the customer reviews.
Her husband comments on all facets of the units. She has a video on her site as well. |
Thank you all for your input!
Blessings, Donna Mc |

Here are some of the threads. My husband refers to the first one as "rage in the cage". The second one is Watson's dog grooming arm solution that is quite affordable.
