Green Tomato Ideas?
My garden is about done, but I have some small green tomatoes that don't seem to be ripening or growing any bigger. I've never eaten a green tomato, so this morning I picked one off the vine to see what it tasted like: not half as bad as I thought honestly! I'm wondering if there are any ideas for canning them up? Or maybe, do they go good in a salad? I don't want anything super tart or sour that my family won't eat.

You could do fried green tomatoes. There is also green tomato mincemeat.

I love to make fried green tomatoes but you can also make jam or chutney, the jam is a little spicy since it has ginger in it.

We use more green tomatoes then red when they first appear in the garden. We devour fried green tomatoes. My daughter makes a relish from green tomatoes, the type you get at the fried catfish places.

Green tomato relish.

I just love fried green tomatoes. Slice them up, coat them in flour and fry them in butter! Yum! |
Have you goggled it ? I remember my Mother telling how a neighbor lady made a “mock apple pie” with green tomatoes. They said it was very good.

All these ideas sound yum! Thanks for sharing! I like the idea for mock apple pie and green tomato chutney. My DH likes the idea of fried green tomatoes. I probably have enough to try them all!
