Laser light

Has anyone used a laser light for sewing HSTs? Do you like at? Any negatives?

My machine has a built in light. I use it all the time. It is helpful when sewing seams across intersections. I can lift the top piece and see the stitching line on the bottom piece.

There are a couple of other vendors that offer the lights also.

I would be hesitant to purchase from that site. Google says it's a "global marketplace", so basically an aggregator for overseas vendors.

I agree - go through a vendor you know. I got burned and won't do it again. They switch products then tell you to send back the item you didn't order at your expense to China, and then they will send you the item you did order IF they still have the product available.

Thanks for the vendor warning, but I wasn't specifically suggesting that vendor, just showing the type of product I was wondering about. There are many suppliers offering them for sale, so I just wanted to know if they are actually useful before I investigate them further.

I bought one of Amazon and I’m pretty happy with it. I searched the Internet and read a bunch of reviews. Once you get it lined up right kit works really well on HST.

Which one did you buy?

I tried one, and although it worked, I didn't like having it there. I use Diagonal Tape from Cluck Cluck Sew. It'll last forever, as you only have maybe 3" in front of your needle and it stays there for quite a while before needing to be replaced. https://www.fatquartershop.com/diago...luck-cluck-sew

I wanted to just try the concept inexpensively, so l bought a battery operated one from Harbor Freight ( for saws). This one was magnetic...my machine mostly plastic, so l used velcro with sticky back. The laser worked fine, but l didn't like it sticking out where it was, and that was the only place it worked for the job. I kept getting caught up on it when threading and " flipping" sewing projects around. I did try removing it when not using it , then putting it back. In the end, when the battery died, l never bothered replacing it.

The tape is 45% off at QIAD today. Limit two rolls.
