Basting Powder/Confetti Quilts
 

Has anyone used basting powder? If so, which brand and how did it go?
I want to make a rather heavily covered confetti quilt and I am thinking this might be my best option.
I would add tulle and quilt, afterwards.

I've never heard of basting powder. I'll be following the thread with interest.

Free Fuse is the only brand that I know of. I've heard that is a lot less messy that the fumes you get from the spray on such as 505 many of us use. Personally I haven't used it yet....I'm a 505 user.

I’m not sure what type of confetti quilt you’re doing, but Noriko Endo uses tulle to cover her confetti quits instead of fusing them. I saw this years ago when Alex Anderson had her show on HGTV and it’s still on my bucket list to make one.. I tried using a product called Bo Nash but didn't care for it. Went back to layering and adding tulle. I've been trying to use up the last of the Bo Nash on small quilts in place of 505 spray just to use it up. It seems to work okay for that but I feel it's messy and prefer 505.

I have used the Free Fuse in my projects such as wall hangings and table runners.

This another product that I like and usually my go to. It is very easy to work with and light weight.

I apologize. I apparently read right over the part where you would be using tulle! So I was no help at all!

I used it for several table runners and really liked it. My sister tried it on a bag she was making and didn't like it at all. Her complaint was that she got it all over her iron. I think she used too much of it. It worked very well for my table runners and I was easily able to do edge to edge quilting on my machine without all the safety pins I usually use. You just sprinkle it on like salt being careful not to get it where it shouldn't go.

I like QS Free Fuze for smaller quilts and projects. Bo Nash I have used was a permanent glue powder. Free Fuze washes out. I've been thinking about putting the Free Fuze in the blender to make it more powder then granules.......

She spoke at our guild and I took a class from her a year or so before Covid. But, I have not seen her post anything in the last while.
