I'm at a loss for a word

what do we call the strips of fabric we use to increase the size of a block to make it equal to a larger one? I'm stuck on "sashing" which is not what I'm talking about! BTW - if you go to Webster's on-line thesaurus it doesn't recognize the word "sashing"!

I've always referred to them as "fill strips".

Filler? Extender? I don't know of any official term for this.

Patchwork??

I would call them border strips for each
block

I would call them sashing strips for the block or border strips for the block.

thanks - good ideas but not the word I think I remember hearing...but what does memory really mean at my age?!?!?!

GingerK 05-03-2023 02:11 PM

Framing strips maybe? And at our age, memory means one can remember how to get home from the LQS--or at least close enough to recognize the neighbourhood

how about "oopsie fixer"?

other possibles: blocking, lattice, cornerstones, sashing squares, https://www.nationalquilterscircle.c...uilting-terms/
