Silicon Baking Mat for FMQ Too Sticky

Hi All, I want to do some FMQ on my next quilt so I bought a silicon baking mat to help the material slide easier (I've seen suggestions about this on this forum). Well, maybe I purchased the wrong item because it is not a slippery as I thought it should be and the test sandwich didn't slide at all. The plus side it is that is sticks great to my sewing table and covers a nice large area. I didn't spend that much on it, but I was hoping it would work. Maybe I needed the Teflon oven mat instead? For now, I have my machine set up with very light presser foot pressure which helps the sandwich move easy. As a side note, I will be using a ruler foot and template for the FMQ. Does anyone has any suggestions to make the mat less sticky? It even seems too sticky for pastry IMO.

Shari

oven liners....for the bottom of an electric oven. they are great for fmq, and also for ironing
I have several
https://www.amazon.com/s?k=oven+line..._ts-doa-p_4_10

I found these right after I sewed my quilt to a super slider mat (or whatever they were called) when they first came out.
bigger
better
and much less expensive

Thank you for the suggestion. I know I read some of the other threads on this and thought it was a baking mat. Well, it is sticky enough that I can use it under my 99K (Gertie) to help it from sliding around. My sewing/cutting table was one that was used in a hotel room so the surface is varnished.

That's what I use. Mine was around $10. I use painter's tape to hold it down on the extension table.

ETA - Walmart still sells the one I bought, and it's still $10.

Yeah, I bought one of those silicone oven mats. Doesn't work at all.

The product made for this works so much better. I have the Super Slider. It's years old and still works like new. A wash in warm water renews the underneath stickiness. The oven liners don't seem to be as flexible but are bigger.

I don't use any type of mat. I just wax my machine and the SewEzi table top with car wax. It makes the quilt slide around just fine.

These are oven liners...not the silicone baking mats used for baking cookies etc.

The oven liners I tried were black, thin, and had to be stuck down with tape, not very slicky either. I guess it's better than not having a slider if you need it.

I just ordered some oven liners. Will see if they work.
