drop feed dog with 328K

I have a singer 328K, it works perfect for me.
I like to do some free motion sewing.

Is it possible to drop the feed dogs with the singer 328 K ?

According to the manual, it doesn't drop the feed dogs, but had a lifting plate that goes under the needle plate for free motion work.

I have a 328K . OurWorkBench is correct feed dogs don't drop. I haven't used mine for FMQ.

Thank you.

I do have that part, I had no idea what is was supposed to be used for.

I do have a manual, but it is picture only. Which makes it very difficult to understand.
Thank you I am going to try it.

You can try searching on line for "how to use darning plate". While a more modern model, this can give you an idea:

You can try setting the stitch length to zero to FMQ. I have done this with good success on machines that don't drop feed dogs. I used to cover them but tried without. Give it a try
on a practice piece.

I have tried it but 1 ran into a problem.
Inserting the lifting plate is not a problem and the normal plate goes on top.

When i try to catch the bobbin thread without a foot, an presser foot (without foot) in down position.
The upper thread does not catch the bobbin thread.

If I have a foot attached, then I can catch the bobbin thread but I have no way of moving the fabric around because the presser foot presses the fabric against the slide plate.

According to the manual it should be possible to do it without feed

Have not tried setting the stitch length to zero yet.

I tried zero stitch length, but had the same problem.

With pressure foot no movement because the pressure foot presses against the sliding plate.

Without pressure foot, the upper thread does not catch the bobbin thread.

Hmm, interesting that the manual (that I linked to previously) does say to lower the presser foot before drawing up the bobbin thread. I usually don't lower the presser foot to draw up the bobbin thread. Have you tried that? What are you working on? I have heard of some that will not drop the dogs, leave the presser foot on and set stitch length to zero. You could try without the lifting plate and reduce pressure as seen at https://www.manualslib.com/manual/71...page=28#manual
