Anyone bought batting scissors?
 

Did I spell scissors correctly? For some reason I have trouble with that one...LOL. I've just finished cutting 46 piecees of dacron batting to make mats for cat rescue kennel pads and it got me wondering if everyone uses their scissors for this or a blade cutter? I know that the Fiskar company makes batting scissors especially for this and I'm not interested in buying a pair, but what does everyone else cut their rolls of batting with? Has it dulled your scissors? I'm using a pair of scissors that must be 15 years old, not my good ones.

I use my blade cutter almost all the time. I am a wobbly cutter using scissors. Cutting with scissors, I look like I followed a snake. HaHa! I can use my cutting board and straighten the batting up with a ruler and get much better results.

I have batting scissors and I love it! I buy batting by the roll so the batting scissors make life easier for me. They are still as sharp as the day I bought them about decade ago!

I have found batting seems to dull my rotary blades faster. I never use my sewing scissors to cut batting. I use a pair of 5" scissors from Harbor Freight to cut batting from rolls. The scissors cut the batting perfectly and stay sharp.

I don't know if they're called batting scissors, but I do have a pair of scissors with very long blades. I used to use them to cut batting from roles, and found it was much easier than using regular short scissors. But I've since switched to using my rotary cutter and a ruler. I have several cutting mats lined up across the table of my longarm, and that's where I cut batting from rolls and trim quilts after quilting.

I bought a pair when I was at Quilt in Day shop in Paducah a long time ago. They were new on the market. Eleanor demoed them and we each got to cut batting. It seemed like a useless item until we tried them. I use them every time I cut batting now. They are shaped to not get hung up and the cuts are straight with the long blades. I would not hesitate to buy another pair.

I have a pair of Kai 7300 12" Professional Shears from Wawak that I use exclusively for cutting batting from the roll. The blades have remained sharp. For trimming up my quilt edges, I use my rotary cutter to trim off the excess batting and fabric on my cutting table and the rotary for cutting batting into smaller pieces when doing smaller projects, once the batting is cut off the roll.

Hum, never heard of them until now. I use scissors when cutting from the roll of batting but rotary cutter on smaller pieces. Part of me wants to give them a try and the other part of me needs to avoid sharp objects. Tee-Hee-Hee!

I bought batting scissors many years ago at a quilt show. They are easy to use, the long blades cut smoothly and accurate cuts. I won't use anything but them to cut batting.

As a longarm quilter, I use and really like my batting scissors. The long blades make quick, smooth work of cutting a length of batting and the blunt tips help prevent cutting anything I don't want to cut. Also, I get straighter cuts than using a pair of regular (shorter) scissors. No rotary blade cutting for me, thanks.
