Tupperware Woes...
 

Tupperware files for bankruptcy.

I grew up with Tupperware, my mom used nothing but, and I remember the Tupperware parties that women put on. My mom hosted a few Tupperware parties.

Still have a collection of Tupperware that I inherited from my mom which I use all the time.

Tupperware and Rubbermaid... two brands I thought would be around forever.

they priced themselves out of business.
i nearly fainted when i saw the prices of some of their most basic items.

i used to sell it, so i am a fan. i just can't afford it.

I would have never known about the current prices, what a shame.

Tupperware and Rubbermaid was never cheap, even back in the day, but what a shame it became so overpriced and led to their demise.

Alway hate to see such a long-standing brand go by wayside and disappear.

I know, so sad. I still have some Corning ware and Corelle ware and love them still. some are 50+ years old. I must remind my son and granddtrs that they can sell for a lot, not to discard them like trash!

Never was much of a fan of Tupperware. I prefer my vintage Pyrex refrigerator containers to storing in plastic.

My thoughts, too.

Yes, I still have an old Corning Ware dish of my moms.

Yes, I use Pyrex glass storage containers as well.

I will not heat anything up in the microwave stored in plastic.

I've been to more Tupperware parties than I can count! The plastic bowls with lids and such didn't work well... i have an adverse reaction to moldy stuff and switched (before there were the disposable containers) to margarine tubs. I've often wondered how many half full containers of margarine I've tossed because I was scared to look inside...

About 20-30 years ago I had a friend who was selling Tupperware and I still have and use the largish beige stackable (with a strainer or steamer insert) meant for microwaves set, sort of a melamime texture. I actually have two sets and love them and use them pretty much daily. There is also a softer plastic rectangular set of a base, strainer/steamer/lid. We had two sort of rose-brown shade sets and they were pretty thrashed and didn't make the move. I did however, find a harvest yellow set pretty much unused at the Goodwill and that one did make the move. I use it at least once a week as well...

We had the Tupperware parties when growing up. Every home had the canisters. Green or yellow. LOL. The one thing I remember the most is the upside down measuring cup. I have been looking for one at thrift and estate sales. The only Tupperware I use now is the pickle container, small and large. great for pickles and olives. When I bought those I thought they were very overpriced but have been very useful.


Also the newer Tupperware the lids seem to made thin and flimsy, they do not fit at all like the vintage lids.

The Corning ware and Corelle are collectible but not that valuable. The Pyrex with the capitol P is the most sought after dishware.
