Insulbrite for Blankets for Kitty TNR?
I have some flannel and would like to make a few blankets to help some people that trap feral cats for TNR to keep the kitties warm during the process. Does anyone know if I could use Insulbrite with some cotton batting and two pieces of flannel for the outside? I heard that you can use mylar but it seems very thing and I also heard that I should stay away from fleece because it won't absorb liquid should the kitty have an accident. I feel so bad for the poor kitties outside. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

It is when trappers take in feral cats to have them spayed or neutered so that they can keep the population down as many cats have kittens and I read that sometimes only one out of the litter makes it. It is incredibly sad. I praise these trappers and what I was asking is when the cats are trapped in the carriers or however mode of transportation sometimes it is very cold and if there is a blanket inside (with some mylar inside) it can either be wrapped around the cat (if the cat allows) or just be there so that the cat can get a little warmth until he/she is spayed or neutered and then eventually released, if they are too feral to be socialized. I didn't mean bedding for a cat shelter in which stray should be used. I was mostly thinking of a transport blanket. I was trying to think of what would be better, mylar or if I could use Insulbrite.
Thank you for answering. |
I am a licensed wild rehabbed and suggest using a rice or corn filled cloth bag that you heat in the microwave. Wrap the heated bag in a small towel and place inside the carrier. Adds warmth and they can move away if too warm. I use them often for wildlife that has just arrived to warm them.

When gifting to organizations, whether for humans or animals, it's always best to ASK first, than to make general assumptions. Check with your TNR contact(s), as they should know what has worked well (or not!) in the past. |
