I really like this quilt design
But......I can't figure out how the block is made and there is no pattern that I am aware of. If you make the ends using 1/2 sq. triangle with one side being white that would not offer enough white to make that triangle shape next to it. Or am I wrong on that? Any ideas????

I'm not entirely sure what half square triangle you're talking about as there are a LOT in there, but if I look at the picture with my head tilted on an angle, I think I can see a way of making the stars as a sort of 16-patch using HSTs and squares (the centre would be a large square instead of 4 smaller ones). Maybe someone else can explain this better... I think that might be what you're asking.

Gemm described it accurately

It is actually a pattern that doesn't seam to be available any more per reverse image search I found that is Schnibbles Sweet Spot per http://maryonlakepulaski.blogspot.co...ot-origin.html It is no longer available at https://www.etsy.com/listing/6103562...isting_details It is made with flying geese according to https://islandlifequilts.blogspot.co...weet-spot.html and the image is at https://blogger.googleusercontent.co...0/DSC_2535.JPG
There is a similar pattern at https://www.maplecottagedesigns.com/...quilt-pattern/ |

This is how I would break down the block.
Squares in each of the four corners Four flying geese Center square Block size is your choice. Example: For a 12 inch block (finished) Cut 4 squares at 3 1/2 inches (finish at 3 inches) Make 4 Flying Geese 3 1/2 x 6 1/2 (finish at 3x6 inches) Cut Center Square at 6 1/2 inches (finish at 6 inches Square) |
Here is a tutorial for the block that finishes at 16 inches square. Just omit the center circle applique.

Try Sawtooth Star. I saw it on SewCanShe and there is a pdf for it.

maybe....those center star points look more like hourglass shapes than flying geese or HSTs to me. Just with 3 pieces all one color....
kinda like this star? https://www.intrepidmeredith.com/201...ass-units.html it seems like an optical illusion....if I look at it on point, it looks like FG, but if I tip my head, it looks like an hourglass hmmm here is a pattern from Quilter's Cache of an FG star https://www.quilterscache.com/C/Clus...tarsBlock.html |
They are sawtooth stars. You can make the points with either FG or HST's, your choice.

The star blocks are like the 'Block Star' on Missouri Star Quilt. You would have to work how you place the fabric to get the same color for each star. You would need to make a set of 4 to make a star of one color.. Block Star Video
