Looking to try new brands of cotton batting

Looking for a new brand of cotton batting to switch to --- I usually use warm & natural or warm & white, buying it in bulk in a 90 x 40yd roll. I'm getting down to the end of my roll and need to buy more, but I've been reading some reviews and I'm seeing that the quality has seemed to gone down some, in that reviewers are saying that it seems to be thinner.

I usually buy from Joann's with a 50% off coupon, but the last two I have gotten from them, one was only wrapped in plastic that came half torn off, and the other in a cardboard box (no inner wrapping) and the box was torn and dirty which unfortunately also damaged the batting. Customer service with their online orders is pretty much none existence.

So I'm looking at other brands that I can buy in bulk and was wondering if anyone used Pellon batting. I open to other brands as well. I'm looking for 100% cotton and I really loved the old time quilt feel of the warm company cotton batting after the quilt is washed, but..... Torn on paying the price for it anymore.

I almost put an order in at Joann's today but... for that price even 40 to 50% off and having to cut away damaged batting seems redundant and a waste instead of a savings.

Very much open to suggestions!

Most of the LA in my area buy batting from Marshalls Dry Goods. They have their own brand of 80/20. I don't know the price but i do know they offered to send a customer samples of the batting they sell when she called the store.
They have a retail website and a wholesale website. The wholesale you can buy without a tax number if it is their brand MDG.

Quilter's Dream has a bulk roll option. I believe Batting Super Sale and Hancock's of Paducah are mail order sources (the 100% cotton only shows in Request weight on Hancock's website at the moment.) The 100% cotton has no scrim. BSS shows several different roll widths - 60", 93", and 120" and both natural and white options. Also check Etsy for sellers.

Hobbs has an heirloom 100% cotton with scrim and comes in both 96" and 102" wide rolls. Hancock's and Linda's Electric Quilters are sources.

Michael's carries 100% cotton batting. I only get the quilt sized cuts so I don't know if they have a roll the size you want it.

I have had good luck with the Pellon. I get it delivered on a roll from walmart. All of it seems pretty good. Fine for my purposes. I got a package of Fairfield cotton and that is the softest drape. I might consider more of that when my roll of Pellon is done. I get the cotton with scrim mostly. Honestly I don't find much of a difference in performance except in price. I used to be only Warm and Natural and then tried Pellon and that worked just as well. I quilt my own quilts on a Brother PQ1500.

It seems that batting is thinner. ** years ago cotton batting was 1/4 inch. I was so thrilled to find 1/8 inch. Now it seems 1/16 is the standard. There’s no dimension.. and it’s too flimsy for a wall hanging.

Learning to read the fine print.

I love Quilter's Dream Request. It's 100% cotton and does give a soft, crinkly look once the quilt is washed. I used to use Warm & Natural but found it to be thicker than I wanted.

Winline has a great selection of battings. I like their 80/20 better than Warm and Natural (which we're led to believe is 100% cotton, but isn't). Winline also has an awesome 100% cotton batting. https://www.winlinetextiles.com/ There's also a list of retail stores around the country who carry their batting. https://www.winlinetextiles.com/retail-stores-s/106.htm

Batting.com. has wonderful batting. Several kinds. And no postage. I have purchase rolls of Warm & Natural and of Quilters Dream. They also have prepackage by the case. Check them out on line.
