Using up stash

I have been making up flannel baby blankets. They will be donated to the OB office to be handed out at the MA's choosing. I was able to get 12 made, three I made into rag quilts. All are approximately 27"x36". It felt good to use up a bin of flannel and use it to make blankets that can keep a new baby all cozy and warm. Now onto using up jelly roll strips from stash and making lap quilts to be donated.

I have never officially joined the fabric moratorium thread, but reading it inspires me to use what I have. I like adding to my stash, so I buy deals when I find them for use at a later time, then when the MOJO strikes I have the fabric to use and make items to donate or gift.

They all look so soft and cuddly.

Those are so nice. I have so much yardage of older fabric lines I really don't care for anymore. I started putting together 3 yard quilt bundles with print out of some of the free patterns for 3 yard quilts added to each bundle. I donated them to the community service for my guild. They sold some to make money for batting and many took a bundle to make a donation quilt. I would rather the fabric be used instead of sitting on my shelf and probably never used. I usually don't make quilts to give away just to be giving so giving the bundles was much better for me.

So cute! I remember when I was expecting my second child, back in 1969. (I know, I'm old.) I wasn't a quilter then, but I did know how to sew. I bought 24 yards of nice soft flannel at Montgomery Wards, for a total price of $8, and I made lots of receiving blankets and infant clothing from it.

Those are some snuggly looking quilts! I’ve been using mostly stash the past three years to make comfort quilts to donate. The only fabric I’ve purchased has been for backings. I have much more stash to try to use up. I swear it multiplies when i turn out the lights!

You did a great job coordinating fabrics to make cohesive and adorable baby quilts. I do the same for our church's new babies.
After making so many self binding receiving blankets, I pieced the scraps and made even more, and added burp cloths. LOL
I need to do what Onebyone did, and bundle yardage for 3 yd. quilts, only I prefer to make my own as I don't belong to a guild.
