Returning to my love of quilting Ontario Canada

Good morning everyone,

Recently I have returned to the hobby of quilting. 15 years ago I gave it up as I was in the depths of my working career and something had to give. I underestimated how much I would miss the creativity process. Equally, I have been in a state of utter wonder at all the new “rulers ‘n gadgets”.

Last night I was doing a search for a good used sewing cabinet (eddycrest or arrow) and luck brought me to this forum. I was struck by the shared joy and kindness of the comments.

Warmest regards everyone, Kelley

Welcome from a fellow Canadian living on the west coast. I've been here for almost 20 years and kindness reigns. This has been my "guild" for most of my quilting and the members of this group have been my mentors and teachers.

Hello and Welcome!

It does seem like " almost everyone" has the latest and greatest for machines and tools.

but beautiful quilts were made way back when - when they were still pieced by hand with just a needle and thread.
wonder when scissors were invented? Somehow they seem more complicated than a rotary cutter.

Anyway - welcome.

I'm glad you found us. I was a happy solitary quilter for many years and then discovered the joys of community, even virtual, much enhances

I consider myself "almost honorary" Canadian, having grown up in Alaska, and then Washington state accounting for about 50 years of my life. I am recently transplanted to midwest America and am looking forward to seeing more of the Northeast of both of our countries. Bay of Fundy NS is on my bucket list, as is taking the Trans-Canada rail.

Welcome from Southern California! During difficult times I would wake up during the night and sew a bit. It made my days much happier. Glad you're joining us!

Sending a warm welcome from the state of Delaware. Loads of gadgets but we really don’t need them all to make lovely quilts. Happy you are back doing what you enjoy.
