Movement in Squares
1 Attachment(s)
Just got this top done yesterday and now working on a brown version of the same. A father/son asked for browns, greens and cream and I decided to make one in greens and one in browns though at least one of the fabrics in each group has a bit of the opposite color in it. As both men are tall I decided to add a 3 inch sashing to the tall and bottom using the scraps leftover and I'm really pleased how it came out. Much better than I thought it would. I did have a few OOPS along the way but after pulling out my home-made alphabet pins to help me keep the fabrics straight, I made headway. This quilt came out at 54.5 x 68 instead of 54.5 x 62 so hopefully they'll like it.
I have the brown version all cut and laid out for each block ready to hit the machine today. |
I like the diamond border you added to increase the length. The guys should love it.

Beautiful, but also manly! Love the color combo. Thanks for sharing!

Oh I like this one...excellent color selections. I'm sure father and son will fall in love with their quilts.
|
Lovely work! Do you have a quilting plan for it?
|
Oh I am sure they will love it. It really came out well , a modern, but manly look with the fabric colors.

ThimbleBug6000, no quilting layout as yet. I have quite a few waiting to be quilted before them but I'm thinking something circular since it's so square. The body will probably be an E2E but the border will be totally separate and then something different for the diamonds as well. I'm sorry to say the brown version is not coming out as nice looking. Too many dark, uninteresting fabrics used. Hopefully they'll like it anyway.
Got the blocks and sashings done that go between the blocks. Working on the diamond blocks now. |
Lovely pattern and fabrics!

Very nice. Looking forward to the next one too.

That’s one cool quilt. I expect the brown to look just as nice when finished.
