Movement in Squares #2

Finished the brown version of this pattern after deciding I didn't care for some of the fabrics I chose at the beginning. Of course I made those blocks before deciding that so I now have 7 blocks out of 12 thrown into my orphan block bin. I had my sister's help in deciding which fabrics to switch out and of course I went to my batik shelves to find the ones to switch to. 2 of them are fairly close in pattern though but just enough shade difference maybe you wo't notice.

I was trying to not make the same mistakes I did the 1st time but of course I made new ones instead. I had to rip out one block almost completely as I didn't notice I'd put a couple of the strips on the wrong side. Then when I went to make up the extra sashing using the scraps for the Square in a Square blocks, I flipped the whole entire length to the wrong end so now some of the squares are just above the block with the same fabric and I was being so careful in putting them away from that block. Guess I just wanted to get this bad boy finished and off my design wall but I'm still happy how it came out though. So here it is........ I included the green version for those that might not have seen it before. This is a free pattern out there somewhere as a friend of mine was able to find it and download it.

Love them both. Fabulous finish despite all your issues.

I think it looks great! Sounds like you had as good of time making this as I did with Simply Woven.

Those are great quilts! I've made a couple of the center blocks for various swaps. I love that look of interlocking rings. Thanks for the pictures. The site for the free pattern was quick and easy to find so now I have yet another quilt pattern in my "want-to-do" folder. This one just might happen sooner than later, considering I've already dabbled with it.

Would have sworn that I responded to this one , but it's not showing up.
Wonderful quilts. The green is my favorite! If you make a blue one be sure to show it...love blues and greens.

LindaChipper, I doubt if I'll make another one as these went to a father/son group. I try to not use the same pattern for my quilts.

Right now I'm working on 2 lap quilts for a couple using the Drunkard's Path templates in 2 sizes. I'm finding my way thru them what's the easiest way to stitch them out and think I've come down to this. Press a fold in the center of every piece. Glue the ends only to keep the 2 sections together and make a couple snips along the outer section to make it easier to easy the pie section. I had 228 of the smaller 3.5 Drunkard's Path blocks to make for this quilt I designed in EQ8. Only 12 of the larger blocks plus 8 half blocks of the larger size.
