I started this BOM in 2010 as a green novice quilter got the first patchwork blocks done and then basically gave up as I was getting frustrated with wonky squares. I put in on my UFO Challenge list at LQS this year and it was the one picked to complete for February. Finished putting the last border on this morning and actually glad to have finished and since I have backing bought already I will quilt it hopefully before the end of the year. As I was working on it I realized so many things were never going to line up correctly so I made a few minor corrections and am pretty satisfied with it. It is no longer my chosen style of quilting as I tend to go bright colors and more modern patterns but was a learning experience.

Those were some difficult blocks - even for experienced piecers.
Congratulations on finishing it! |
I absolutely love this quilt top! Primary colors are so cheerful and happy. You did a wonderful job finishing it. You can sell it to me if you hate it. I think that the charity I sew for and donate to would just love it too. (Auction for diabetic kids)

Congrats on the finish, it looks wonderful.

It's such a happy looking quilt and congratulations on the finish. Once quilted you may actually fall in love with it.

Wow! I'm so delighted that you finished this quilt top. What a struggle some of those blocks must have been for a beginner! I see no mistakes, but I do see how this shows off those lovely 30s reproduction fabrics, of which I'm very fond.
Beautiful, and beautifully done! |
Your quilt is so pretty! The dresden in the center would have stopped me - so many pieces. Congrats on the finish.

Persistence pays off again! That's lovely and most people start with a nine-patch.

Thank you for all your kind comments. I'll get it quilted and probably end up keeping it as a mark of my quilting progress. I have a few others that were learning projects like FMQ, ruler work and applique. |
I'm so glad you finished this beautiful quilt and shared it with us. I absolutely love the fabrics and the designs. You did an amazing job then and now.
