Our One Day Retreat needs your help!!
We will be a small group--only 10-12 people. We have enough prizes so that everyone will get one, but we need some games or cute quizzes. What have you done at your retreats? Thanks in advance for any and all ideas!

Do you all know each other? If not - how about introducing youselvrs to each other?
(You might want to put a time limit on that) Maybe have each person name their favorite quulting style - biggest or most embarassing mistake - if i knew then what i know now - favorite brand of quilting ruler and why- I am not mentioning talking about machines because there may be major differences in what people can afforrd. Other topics - to have a stash or not - if one has a stash, is it still under control? I don't know your group - but some definitely have snobs - and i would definitrly try to kerp them in Show and tell for best quilting gadget under $25. Prize for the person that remembered to bring everything needed? |
We love the left/right/center game. Everyone brings 2 or 3 fat quarters. The winner ends up with the whole stack of fat quarters. For a second game we use dollar bills. Cheaper than fat quarters. LOL

How about ??
Each person writes on a piece of paper something the others do not know about her. You put them on the wall. The Challenge ... each person tries to match it to each other. The one with the most matches wins! (You may want to re-write them in your own handwriting, as with the small group, many will be able to identify the other person's writing.) And you've each gone home, knowing something extra about your friends. |
Hi Bear. We know each other. Most of us belong to our day guild that meets every 2 weeks.
Intoquilting, we call that game 'Strip Poker' because the buy-in is 5 WOF 2.5 inch strips of fabric. It is one the group really enjoys and is already on the itinerary for midafternoon break. Ohh Quilt E, that's a new one to me! Definitely worth considering, altho some of these folks have known each other since grade school. Keep em coming floks. |

Even if they don't it still leaves the others with the challenge. :) Regardless, I am sure that you ladies will have a real good FUN time .... and hopefully, there will be no cancellation required with yet another snow day! |
I went on a bus tour once and they passed out sheet of paper with names of quilts all scrambled up. You had to unscramble the letterns and fill in the blank space beside it. First one finished with correct answers won a prize. An example "nrusyargqsane" is granny square. The one that had me stumped was catherdral window!

Christmas in march?
Do each of you bring food or snacks or do you go out to eat? |
Scrambled quilt patterns or blocks. Another good one! We are having a catered lunch and a few always provide nibbles and snacks and chocolate of course!! We were planning on providing our own lunch and having a catered supper, but many of us don't like driving in the dark so we changed it to lunch.

How about the "Never Have I Ever " game? All the questions can be quilting related - from ones everyone has done (like sewed a whole seam with no bobbin thread) to less likely (sewed through your finger or went to a retreat without your power cord). You could give a prize to the person with the most points or the person with the least. Or both.
