My "New" Singer
4 Attachment(s)
Hi all, I just wanted to share my "new" Singer that was delivered today. It is a 1924 (I believe) model 127 hand crank. It has the Sphinx motif on it with some of the better surviving decals I've seen with exception to the bed. It was made in St. Johns Canada. It does have a reproduction crank on it and is missing the front plate. The other issue is the bobbin winder. It seems to be frozen, but like all Singers, I believe it will be an easy fix. I played around with it a little bit today after giving her a good oiling. It was my birthday present to me. I need a really good old fashioned name for her. I haven't been able to come up with a good one this time, though I was thinking either Florence or Henrietta.

Very pretty! I would love to have a hand crank machine.

Thanks. For the record, I've decided on Flo for her name.

Isn't it just SO aggravating when you buy a sewing machine, vintage, that almost always seems to be missing that one part!! I purchased a very large machine many, many years ago that also has that piece missing and It still sits in the box because try as I might I cannot find a replacement part. It's a GRRRR! moment!

Your Flo is a beautiful machine! I'm glad you're getting her up and running.
I want to use the name "Bertha" for one of my machines but none of my older machines are screaming "Bertha" yet. My featherweight is "Verle". Those wonderful, rarely used names!! Lillian, Mildred, Ethel, Cora, Minnie, Winnifred, Edwina, Myrtle... I rarely meet women with those names these days. |
