Anyone doing Prime Day?
 

There are a few quilting related specials, none that I am interested in. I did get a couple new pairs of shorts/pants. The day before prime I ordered a new pair of gym shoes that were on special, am relieved to find I am still ok with that purchase.

If I didn't already have pretty much all the rulers I would ever want -- this seems like a pretty sweet deal!

I don't hoard fabric, I just shop faster than I sew.

Nothing I need from Prime this time. I do like the tumbler's theme but not the color of browns. Those colors all jammed together remind me of a cluttered overly decorated house and I would feel that everytime I used it.

most of the ruler sets are very reasonably priced even without the discount. great for new quilters, especially, so they don't have to invest a fortune to get started.

where were these sets before i spent a fortune on all those i have already. [rolling my eyes and chuckling]

I have ordered the same ruler twice. It keeps getting lost in transit. Grrrr. 7 1/2" square.

my fun with prime is avoiding how they try to trick you into signing up for it :) We can't stream here and there isn't anything in thhis world I'd need the next day. So K-ching, money stays in my pocket.

I've bought a couple things that I use regularly that rarely go on sale. Amazon had them at 30% off.

Because of the "what's for dinner" thread, I just bought some otherwise expensive spices as prime day deals.

Last night hubby got me a Bowling Ball wheeled bag, I have one I got at a thrift store a few years and it has been doing it's job but it is rather flimsy and where we go now there is a bit of a walk through the parking lot and it is a chore.

So that's about it for us this year. Nothing too special, my shoes came yesterday, they are Puma which is not my usual brand and so I was taking a chance on size

We got rather spoiled in Seattle (or more exactly Renton). We were about 7-10 miles between the main distribution in Issaquah, and the food distribution in Kent and could indeed order things to be delivered within hours if needed... yeah, you had to pay for that.

I know a lot of people have anti-Amazon sentiments, I guess I can understand that but in my work history during the Dot-com crash we were going to be the first provider of things like bookcases and desks and things to store the things that Amazon originally sold, books and music. We were setting up trade deals with China (when that first opened) to make Ikea style and quality furniture but delivered for the same or lower price. Unfortunately at that point the software for the selling wasn't developed yet (2 months behind) and we crashed along with the other dot-coms.

Anyway, I'd rather buy from small providers on Amazon and have a local person deliver my goods, than to buy from Walmart. We all make our choices.

Ihave zero problems with amazon, though not a fan of Bezos. I'm sure he and I see through very different lenses. :)
I'm teaching myself Boro stitching for mending and through that Sashiko. No way in heck would I be able to find those supplies here. Amazon to the rescue!

So true! Like Kamala, there are some things that I just can't find locally so I order from Amazon.

Most local business in my area sell on Amazon and Walmart. They are making a profit or they wouldn't be selling there. The business reaches customers far and wide not just local. Small business rely on these sales.
