I saw a photo of Dunster's great quilt design and decided that it would make a dent in my drawers full of 1.5" strips that I precut into lengths for log cabins. I though it was so clever - Storm at Sea done in log cabins. It was supposed to be a mindless project that I worked on when a had a few minutes to sew or when I needed a break from another quilt. Well, that just doesn't work too well for me. Once I start a quilt, I'm pretty driven to finish it. Last year, I bought a backing online that I didn't like with the quilt I had purchased it for. I thought I would end up donating the fabric. But that crazy multi-colored backing actually looks good with this crazy multi-colored quilt, so I used it after all. I used the Van Gogh panto because it reminded me of froth on the ocean - keeping with the Storm at Sea theme. The binding is a grayish, brownish plum color that is very neutral, but not black. I hope I can find more of it to keep on hand. The quilt finished at about 62x90 - a good snuggle quilt for a tall person.

You did a great job with it! I like the quilting design too. And the busy backing is perfect for a scrappy quilt. Thank you for showing it.
