Game-Changer for My Cluttered Cutting Table
If your cutting table is a black hole where rulers, glue sticks, and seam rippers disappear, this could be the solution you've been looking for. My cutting table has no drawers, and I was constantly losing "things" in piles of scrap fabric. After trying various organizers that never quite worked or looked right, I stumbled upon the Tonic Studios tableside storage system.
I am absolutely smitten with it! I clamped the main caddy to one of the short sides of my cutting table. Since I can't walk around that side due to space constraints, it's the perfect out-of-the-way spot that's still easily accessible while I work. I purchased the main caddy and the single pocket add-on, and the setup is so effective that I'm already buying a second single pocket. A quick tip: two single pockets fit perfectly on the short side of the caddy, and I find they're better than the double-pocket version for supporting taller items like marking pens and small rulers. I plan on using the second single pocket to hold my water bottle and keep that out of the way. I really wish I could purchase another setup for my sewing table but that table is a tad too thick for the clamp. The only thing left is to build the habit of coonsistently using this organizer instead of dropping my tools back into the chaos of scraps. I can't recommend this product enough—it's the perfect, long-awaited solution to my craft table clutter. |
Thank you for the link. I checked these out and they look like something I can incorporate into my cutting area as I'm reconfiguring the layout.

Great idea but knowing me, I will still end up putting things in the wrong spot, lol. I'm glad you found something that works for you!

I try to keep my cutting table as cleared off as possible. My main rulers are at one end on a ruler holder, my rotary cutters are all behind me on a wall as it other rulers I don't use often, my stabilizers are under the cutting table, my scraps are under the cutting table in shoe size totes by size. As I use my cutting table to trim quilts after they've been quilted, then glue the binding on having the ironing board just off to the cutting table so I can keep the iron on the ironing board but within reach. I use my smaller sewing machine at one end of the cutting table to stitch the binding on and then put it on a step stool I use while sewing to press the binding to the other side. Most everything is within reach either under the cutting table or behind on the pegboard.
But that's a nice container for those that can use it to keep stuff where it's easy to find. |
The caddy is really neat and tidy. I have two small baskets that I keep near but not on my cutting/sewing table. They are a true mess, but I know what is in each one and that makes them successful. All the marking/cutting tools go in one and misc.stuff goes in the other. My star discovery is to clean up at the end of each day or sewing session. The 30 to 60 seconds of clean-up makes a HUGE difference. That all old adage of a place fore everything and everything in its place carries a lot of wisdom.

That caddy is very sharp looking. Nice! I use a small open basket for my stuff. It's a little smaller than the caddy, but most of those sewing tools are small, so it works.
