What could I sew for a little girl?
 

My co-worker is coming to my house in about a week for a visit and she will be bringing her two granddaughters. I would love to make something for them. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Pillowcases or little bags? I am kind of drawing a blank. Thank you.

My great nieces were thrilled with colorful Clam Up bags in Kaffe fabrics. Just like their moms.

How about bookmark pencil holders if they are school age. They can be made out of scraps in cute prints that little girls would like. They might also like some type of bow or otherwise to put in their hair. Not sure how old these children are so just throwing out these ideas. I am sure a search on Goodle will give you additional ideas. Enjoy your visit with them. How about Barbie doll clothes if they have Barbies that they love. Even a simple blanket to wrap dolly.

Maybe barbie coloring books and crayons in a drawstring bag? I used to see the ones that had a book cover that doubled as crayon holders to hold it all in one place. At any rate it would give them something to do while visiting you.

Depends on the age. I assume they are not older grandchildren so any bright print fabric zipper bags will be perfect. Four and five year olds love a bag to hold treasures.
Younger than four I wouldn't bother to make anything other than cookies.

Back in 2014 we were doing a Project of the Month, and it was a pillowcase with a frill and a drawstring to make it into a bag. My great nieces & nephews love pillowcases. Ages 3-15 & they even had to take them camping.

I'm guessing that the pointed pocket is actually sewn so that the point is inside the pocket when the pocket is stitched on to form a flap of sorts to keep whatever in the pocket!?
ETA: I just looked at the picture of the one created by tapper shows it with the point out with a button sewn on, but the instructions don't show the point in the instructions.

the link doesn’t open a pdf for me, but not a problem as I made a few of these over the years, and even made some with Xmas fabric to fill with gifts. No photos of those ones though. One I used to gift my SIL her quilt.

Depending on age, maybe a child sized apron? There are some free patterns on the web....I did two years ago for some little girls and matching one for their mom. Their mom said they loved them, and made the dad wear the adult one if he was cooking supper....as they wore theirs to "help"
