Who has made a Library Bookcase Quilt?

I'm looking for ideas on making a Library Bookcase Quilt. So many ways to make one.

Some people have used selvedges for book spines. I saw one at a library, where patrons paid a donation to name a book and have their name put on a spine as the author. Good moneymaker for the library. I would think, once you have the height of your shelves established, pretty much anything goes. Somewhere on the internet, there is a pattern for a Harry Potter book case quilt, complete with sorting hat and cauldron.

I made mine as part of a round robin. Each person made a shelf and I put them together. It was going to be too long, so I cut a couple of the shelves in half. I also made a wall above the shelves so I could put more chotchkes and a UFO (as a painting) above the shelves. I love it. Some people in the group used selvages for titles and others beautifully embroidered the titles. Some added little personal touches as well.

I have made a couple of these as wall-hangings.. I looked through my stash for "themes" appropriate for the ones who were to receive them. I had some Harry Potter pieces that worked, some logos from athletic teams, some that looked to maybe be children's books. Keep thinking outside the box and be creative. How about a bowl of fish, a jar of candy? Since one of the recipients has a cat, there was one on a shelf, too. These are fun but time consuming to get the fabrics together!
Now to hope the ones you find will be good size for the spine of a book.

Fandom in Stitches has a bunch of free fpp patterns for bookcase quilts. Some themed (i.e. Harry Potter, Disney, etc.) and some not. http://www.fandominstitches.com/2012...ust-books.html
