Her Dad's T-shirt Collection
Hello I'm new to the forum. @AlZilla recommended I join.
Two months ago, I only owned two domestic machines: a Singer 27 that I took apart as much as I could for education (never could get the arm shaft out, it was pinned and ground) and a Singer 66 that somebody inherited and passed my way. The singer 27 still needs a motor and a skirt (what do you call those mini wooden frames so you can set it on a kitchen table?) and a new home. But the Singer 66, a relative came over and fell in love with it after I had it mostly working, and two weeks later she took it home to make a quilt out of her dad's T-shirt collection. The portability really struck a chord with me, having a machine that can be easily given away and transported home in the passenger seat of an automobile.:D So in the next week I trolled marketplace and bought five more domestic machines, for a grand total of $175.
The first two I've got apart in the basement, making friends with them. https://www.quiltingboard.com/member...649-624875.jpg https://www.quiltingboard.com/member...648-624873.jpg Anyway, that's my official hello, which I usually shy away from but here's to trying something new 🤷 |
Welcome again, I welcomed you on your photo experiment posting, looks like you are enjoying your vintage machine experience.

Turns out I like cast iron machinery even better! |
Hello and Welcome!

What a great idea to buy inexpensive machines for taking apart. A person could spend hours picking away at parts. Check out the Vintage Machines thread on this board.

Welcome aboard! Thank you for making these treasures useable again! Keep your eyes open for Singer 301 as it is supposed to be really portable if not in a cabinet and sews a great straight stitch.

Sending a warm hello from Delaware and another vintage machine lover. Like you, I learned a lot by taking machines apart and putting them back together :-)
