Pinwheel

My husband got me a few BlocLock Rulers for Christmas, so of course I had to make a project specifically to try them out. What better than a pinwheel quilt! All fabric was leftovers from my stash and I used even more smaller HSTs on the backside. Final size is 32x40. Quilted with just a simple continuous curve in the blue sections.

I wanted to find a use for all the HST trimmings, so I collected them and mushed them and sewed them into little coasters. That was a fun bonus and am thinking about keeping all my project scrappings to use in similar ways. Do you do anything fun with your super tiny trim-offs?

I do the same thing with my cast offs from other projects. I was gifted a bag of small triangles, looks like they were the trimmings from flying geese units. I am using them as Leader/Enders for other projects.

I have used a lot of strings over the years, but lately, have stopped keeping those small pieces. My DH gave me a set of Bloc Loc rulers several years ago, and I absolutely love them! Your projects are really neat. How did you manage to get those tiny HST's so beautifully centered on the back of your quilt? Amazing!

the backing was more luck than anything, but I did try to keep my fabric on opposite sides of the small HSTs equal, so that way I could eyeball how centered my top was relative to the back. the quilt was small enough that the eyeballing was close enough!
