Wrapping hands with grippy straps as alternative to quilting gloves (??)
I saw Rebecca Pierce's FB reel where she is FMQ feathers and I cannot tell what she has wrapped around her hands to grip the quilt layers in lieu of quilting gloves.
How would I find out what these are and where to buy them? I am finding quilting gloves don't give me as much control as I'd like, they feel weirdly claustrophobic (does that make sense?). Thanks all! |
They actually look like grip gloves, not straps, at least from my Google search. Marcia Baraldi is one "brand" - she sells on Etsy.
You might also ask Rebecca herself what she's using - try messaging her on Facebook. Christina Cameli uses gloves that she's cut the finger tips off of, which might also be worth trying if you have a pair you no longer use. |
Ranae Merrill uses little squares of the grippy matting. I've tried it and it works great for small pieces but I didn't really like it for larger pieces.

I also have the Machinger gloves but some days it seems like I am taking them on and off too many times. I made myself these “classy” grippy things that I enjoy using so much more.

$40!! For those gloves? I like Thimblebug's idea! "For Quilting" usually adds to the price!

My son gave me some gloves that he found at the $ store. They're just like my quilting gloves with the little, plastic nubs on the palms and fingers, but a different color. I think that he found them in the painting and tools isle. They work great.
