#71 and guess who is sewing again!

I have been going to therapy trying to get that arm moving and Friday I told the therapist, I was going home to see if I could cut fabric. As I made the stripes, the stars, and background with big strips or pieces the only time consuming was tracing out the Applique pieces and then applying them. I finished all but my top and bottom border before therapy today, but I showed the therapist and she was as pleased as I was. She knew that was my goal-lol
I saw a members quilt here and always wanted to try this. I wish I knew what the member used to iron her Applique pieces to, to adhere. Mine is stiff. My daughter ordered the silhouette for me but I made up the pieces for the rest so I could get my size. It’s 64.5x81 and it’s #71 that I’ve made for Quilts of Valor.
Oh and the Applique font was free. All I have is the name Baby Alphabet shapes free pattern for the file.
I can’t tell you how happy I am to be back sewing. I went to my quilt group Thursday and left early. I was upset bc I couldn’t cut my yardage so another member cut what yardage I needed for this. Found out it wasn’t me but the cutter at our group needed a new blade. Came home and next day tried with mine. Success! I’m happy now.

So glad to hear things are going better and the therapy is working and you can sew again. I always admire your quilts though I may not always comment on them. I have always wanted to do a QOV, but my skills aren't quite where they need to be for that despite quilting for many years.

Cheers,
Shari

So happy for you. What a thrilling feeling, independence in the craft you love. Oh, and another great quilt too, but am just thrilled for you. I can hear your enthusiasm in your post.😍

Toogie!! Great to read you're back to sewing! Your top looks fantastic! I find Heat n Bond lite stays stiff for applique. I have used Wonder Under and Steam a Seam. I like the Steam a Seam because it has a mild stickiness that keeps it in position, but you can reposition it quite easily and it is not permanent until you press it with a hot iron.
