Cooking with Avocado Leaves

My son is obsessed with starting avocado seeds and has grown lots plants from them. We alllmmmost have the right climate for avos, but we get those cold snaps and sometimes snow in the winter. Just one freeze will do the plants in, so I'm not hopeful of getting any fruit off of them. Plus, they take years to mature. However, they are very pretty plants and look great as a house plant. Lately, I started thinking that maybe the leaves might be edible. They are!!!

Here's a website tells of many ways to use them:

I'm going to start harvesting some leaves and drying them for teas and seasoning. They are supposed to go great with black beans.

So, my son has announced that I'm not allowed to pick any of his avocado leaves. Humph! We'll see about that. :)

Had to chuckle . I hope you can snarf a few avocado leaves.

Speaking of leaves I've been reading about the nutritional benefit to dandelion leaves. If we ever get spring I am tempted to try some in my diet. I will have to harvest some from the city green spaces while walking the dog as my husband doesn't allow them in his lawn. Fortunately the city won't spray so there will be a time when they are abundant. Anybody have any ideas how to use dandelion leaves in a recipe?

Oh gosh...there's so many things you can do with dandelion leaves. They are great in salads and good for making beverages and wine too. Here's Martha's take: https://www.marthastewart.com/how-to...lions-11699736

Just be sure of two things...they haven't been sprayed and that they are true dandelion plants. We have some that come up all over at our place, but they are not true dandelions. I'm not sure if they are edible, so I leave them alone. Pick some, or take photos and Google it to make sure.
