The mark-be-gones come in different colors. I have blue and purple. You can use a combination of the 2 to mark.

I use the chalk mechanical pencil by Bohin, it is similar to Fons and Porter's. Makes a fine line that comes off easily. Otherwise I use the blue washout, and dampen as I go. I don't leave it on for long.

What about a grey / silver pencil?

Use the silver, not the gray. The silver is great some of the gray pencils are not as advertised and it has become permanent. The silver seems to just blend into the fabric. I have both and definitely prefer the silver and I have used it on a dk med blue.

Hi
I will try these two colors since I have them. Thank you all for replying. Great suggestions.

I hand quilt and I use washable crayola markers to mark my top, usually purple. It washes out with hot water. I've never had a problem. It scared me because it was so dark, but it came right out. Must be the Washable Crayola brand markers, not anything else!
