Because I could not find the older version of marking tape, (an easy to peel off type) I used something called Heat'nBond iron on adhesive. Problem is I think perhaps I ironed it a bit too long or something, because it left a plastic residue.
Would appreciate it if anyone who has had any experience with removing this residue could share that with me.

Heat and Bond is a permanent adhesive...I don't think it will come out of the fabric unless it is labeled as a temporary bond. I don't understand why you were using it for marking? Did you maybe get it mixed up with freezer paper as a temporary marking aide? Ironing on freezer paper holds it in place, shiny side down, but it easily peels off the fabric. Blue masking (painters tape) works better than the cream colored, less residue left on the fabric.

Try Goo-Gone...you'll then have to wash the fabric to get the residue from the Goo Gone out, but it should work.

masking tape, especially the blue "painters" tape is great for quilting straight lines. removes easily and can be repositioned.

I don't understand what you were using it for. Can you describe the application?

heat n bond is a fusible web that is used for applique. If it's on your fabric, it might come off with washing, but it may not.
