My name is Joey. I've never quilted in my life (I plan on learning but probably not right now being so busy) My grandmother recently passed and left me with a lot of quilts and sewing stuff. Unfortunately, no one of my generation was taught how to sew or quilt. I very very very much appreciate the history of the quilts and the craft, and will most definitely carry on the tradition in time. I'll be reading around the forum and learning more about quilting.

Welcome Joey. If you visit regularly you will learn so much. If you go to the pictures sections you will see an endless variety of quilting projects and hopefully one of them will inspire you to try sewing and quilting.

Hi Joey, I am orginally from Calif. been in kentucky for 5 1/2 years now. This is the best place to learn, so much knowledge and experience on this board. You can also make many new friends. I do hope you plan on trying quilting, once you do you will love it.

Welcome to the board from Ventura County!! Where in California are you?
Do you have a nice quilt shop not too far away that you can take a beginning class at?

Hi Joey! How nice that you have some of your grandmother's things. Quilting (for me) is one of the greatest ways for me to relax and also be creative. And this site is fantastic!
Welcome from Ohio! Sue

I also took a beginner class and got hooked very quickly. I had a good teacher and her passion for quilting got everyone excited!! But I also know people who learned other ways too.
For me a class was just what I needed and soooo much fun!

Please dont wait. My grandmother (my father's mother) died and I saw fabric in cedar chest and asked mother what she was working on, she had no idea. When my father died I got it but did not find out what to do until I was in my 60's. SO GET STARTED NOW, BEFORE IT IS ALMOST TO LATE! You will enjoy every minute!

There are so many wonderful people out there who will help you in ways you could never imagin!
