This is a quilt made jointly by my mother and me. I did the hand embroidery blocks and my mother hand-pieced the patchwork blocks and hand-quilted it. This pattern is Playmates by American Jane. I fell in love with this redwork pattern when I saw it at the Houston International Quilt Festival a few years back.

The stitching was done on a cotton fabric with flannel underneath so the red threads would not show through and then my mother hand quilted after the entire quilt was assembled.

The embroidery was done on a 100% cotton fabric - perhaps Kona, but honestly I am not sure. I used flannel underneath so the red threads would not show through when going from one point to another.

Love it! May I ask what kind of embroidery stitch you used?
