Challenge to all of you Quilters to go and rescue old sewing machines, cabinets from flea markets, goodwill stores, thrift stores, rummage sales, antique stores, ebay, craigslist, family, friends, where ever so they won't go in the land fill

Tell everyone you know that you are looking for these things and lets see what all of us come up with.

This will be fun hunting for these old sewing machines and cabinets.

We are on a mission!

Here's one I got today. It's a 1955 Sears Kenmore 120-710. I don't know if I can get parts though. I need the knee controller and the plate next to the needle plate.

I have 7, one is completely torn down, thanks to Billy (Lostn51) tutorials. It is a Singer Model 66-1 treadle. The machine itself is cleaned, but have to put it back together and start on the cabinet and treadle part.

Between the weather and things I have to do, haven't been able to work on it in about a week. Will post a picture when it's done.

My MIL just gave me her 221 featherweight, I have a Singer 99 on it's way, and have my 15-91 I am looking for a new case for, my Singer model 127, and one that I haven't been able to find a model number on...If anyone knows how to find the model based on the serial number...please help. I think it's a 127 but not sure.

There are two at Stuff Etc in the nearby town, but one is a treadle for 129.00 (no money right now), and the other is a White, both in cabinets. PM me if there is anyone in Iowa looking to get these.

Oh, I have been looking! Even BF is looking!
I got a Singer 15 , pretty green one at a garage sale for 15.00, a Singer red eye for20.00 in the Thrift store, a White Treadle from Craigslist for 50.00. Found a Singer in a friends garage, gave him 10.00, what he paid for it, another Singer that is from the 70's for 15.00, but my bulldog chewed up ALL the cords and stuff....little brat!! Oh, and a 50's Blue Green machine from Japan from an antique guy for FREE!!!!!!!! I think its contagious, watch out!!!!!!!

I've got too many now. I think that with over 24 portables, 4 antiques, a couple of toy (but working) ones, and 9+ cabinet models I've done my share of rescue work. And that's not even counting the ones I've given away over the years. I bring them home, clean them, oil them and put them away. About once a year I re-oil them, sew with them for a few minutes and put them away. That reminds me, I need to get one of them out to give to one of the ladies at church.......

I've seen old machines at the antique malls and they're very pricey for machines that are missing major parts.

I have a question -- what are you going to do with all these machines that you are rescuing?

I have a singer 15 in cabinet, that I have given away twice, and it still comes home, so I will never give it away again. I just rescued a 99k in cabinet, poor little thing was an orphan, but not any longer. Cleaning her up today and giving her some oil, then let her purr a bit! I am hoping to get a 301, but I just won't have any room for another one unless it would happen to be a FW. I have 2 new Janomes and 2 sergers. Almost wall to wall with this stuff!
