My grandmother made and gave this quilt to my mom and dad when they got married 64 years ago. My mom called it a wedding ring quilt. Not sure if that is correct but for now, that's what we'll call it.

At one time this quilt was being used regularly but it has been retired to a shelf in the top of a closet. There are a few more up there as well. :D

Beautiful, I love the fabrics. It's so nice to have a family quilt, nothing feels quite like them.

Very nice. Your grandma can name it anything she wants. Wedding ring sounds good to me. Maybe it was her version of it. I really like it.

Wow, are the arcs sewn in or appliqued? Very pretty, does that mean you get to have it?

I think a long time ago, it was called a wedding ring quilt--just not double wedding ring. I'm not sure of the name though. There is another pattern for a wedding ring quilt and it uses some HSTs.

I don't think that I have ever seen a pattern like that. Can you tell if it has cotton batting inside?

I have a feeling we will have to draw straws or flip a coin

I didn't even think about checking to see if it was applique but I'm pretty sure whatever it is was all hand sewn. The batting is more than likely homemade. My grandparents were share croppers on a cotton farm. My mom started picking cotton when she was five years old along with her older brothers and sisters.

How nice to still have a quilt in such good shape. I don't think it should be retired to the top shelf, maybe to a quilt rack, or the back of a chair that doesn't really get used, to pretty to be on a shelf. :)
