A rag quilt is a good place to start! Here is one on line that I made last winter! I would suggest double sewing the seams that hold the pieces together. If you decide to do this one PM me and I will give you a few more clues so you can avoid my mistakes!

Hello and welcome from Ontario. I have made a few rag quilts and they are easy once you get started. Take you squares and sandwich them with backing right side down, batting or middle layer, and then top right side up. Sew this sandwich with an X going diagonally corner to corner (both ways). Once all your sandwiches are made take them and sew with right side to right side of backing using a 1/2" or larger seam allowance (be consistant) into rows to the desired width of your quilt. When you have all your rows assembled then sew them together using the same method matching the seams just made when sewing the rows. Sorry this seems confusing but it really is a simple process once you get on to it. Good luck and be sure to show us the outcome.
