I've pieced a civil war quilt together called "Lizzie's Tents" - three half squares beside a large half square (triangle) repeated. I'm puzzled on what pattern (s) to quilt it together with. A friend suggested a flower in the big square and 1/4 inch inside the smaller triangles with black thread. Any thoughts?

That is a beautiful quilt! Stitch in the Ditch would work but in my opinion I think is crying out for something softer. I always like to see curves on quilt blocks that have so many angles. I am sure you will get lots of ideas and whatever you decide will be perfect for the quilt.

I don't have any ideas for the quilting .... but the quilt is just gorgeous!! Great job and thanks for sharing!

I can't help you with the quilting, but I wanted to say you did a really nice job on the quilt! Very handsome!

I agree with Gramma Nan-the squares would look really good with curved quilting. I'm not sure about quilting with black thread--did that once and it was difficult to see where I was. How about a varigated brown/green kind of thread? That is really a beautiful quilt-and not an easy pattern. Your work is beautiful. Good luck with whatever you choose.

It is beautiful. I love the cw quilts. In keeping with the war theme maybe instead of a flower use a star and the inside border. Try it on you computer using this picture, draw stars and place on the squares and the border and see how it looks to you. This is how I try a design. I did the OLd Abe pattern and in the wide border I did Top hats, canes and bugles. It turned out so good it was the first quilt sold at the show. A lawyer bought it for his office wall. Good Luck.

The quilt is beautiful. What about going with a really traditional quilting suited to the period? Maybe Baptist Fan would give it that bit of roundedness you're looking for...

Very nice! Anything with curves or swirls would be great!

I love that quilt! The colors and fabrics are fantastic. How many half sqs in that one? And did you use Thangles?
