I would like to make a baby quilt for a good friend's baby. Where can I find simple designs for a baby quilt? Would prefer to quilt using precuts like strips or charm squares. Is 40 x40 a good size?

That is a good size. A "quilt as you go" is an easy way to make a small quilt, as is a nine patch.
|
split rail is fun & allows you to use different fabrics if you so choose.

I just made an easy baby quilt I found in a Fons and Porter magazine titled "Baby Quilts". It turned out quite cute and was pretty easy. Just a side note on both baby quilts I made (two showers in two weeks) on the label I left room for baby info and moms-to-be seemed to really like that personalization. Quilts like love, keep you warm.

Thanks to all for your reply. Are there any free patterns I could download online? Would prefer something which could be completed in a quick time, prolly in 3 mths time.

look at the moda bakeshop site. I've made a couple of the baby quilts features on there.

This one is super easy! Just one charm pack. You could probably finish the top in one afternoon! |
