What are the best fabric stores in the CT, NY, RI area? I have recently seen Free Spirit fabrics online and like them, but I think I would prefer to go to a store and "touch" the fabric...

Some that I like:
www.colchestermillfabrics.com in Colchester, nice old mill building in a pretty town, nice staff, good prices. In MA, but not too far from the RI/CT border, is Charlton Sewing Center www.charltonsewingcenter.com Beautiful store in an old church, very well stocked, lots of friendly helpful staff. Also on their website are a number of other area stores, had a great day trip last month with my sister. Fabric Stash, just down the road, is also good. |
I just stopped at Quilter's Stash in North Attleboro, MA last week. It is just over the border from CT - it was great. Lots of batiks and bright colors, which are my favorites.

I love this one when I visit CT. Quadrille, North Haven, Ct. Maybe you can check with the directory of Quilters Travels.
Sorry that is all I have. |
Hello. I do know of four very nice quilt shops in CT.
Lisa's Cloverleaf Quilts in Berlin, CT Sew Inspired in Simsbury, CT Quilting by the Yard in Vernon, CT Common Threads Quilt Shop in New Preston, CT |
Hi Lynn - I lived in Guilford, Ct before my husband and I retired here in MB. There is a Joann's right in Hamden - I go there whenever I'm up visiting my family. There is also one on Manchester. Any other LQS I do not know - was not into quilting before moving here. But I did a lot of sewing and always found good deals at Joann's.
