To give it the correct name its foundation paper piecing.
I am posting pictures one at a time because have found they donīt always come out in sequence. Here goes: Main thing is enjoy. Elle This is your paper piece numbered from 1 to 24. Right side up with all the lines showing. [ATTACH=CONFIG]64509[/ATTACH] |

No. 2. Flip your paper over and you are ready to place your first piece of fabric.
Fabric right side up. TIP. Hold your paper up to the light and put your fabric on No. 1. PIN in position. Here is my first piece in position and pinned. [ATTACH=CONFIG]64587[/ATTACH] |

No. 3. Take you next piece of fabric and place on top of No. 1 It should be right sides of fabric together. PIN in position.
NOW turn your paper over and sew along the line 1 and 2. When you sew along your line continue to your point edge and go over the line by 2 stitiches as in Picture 4. Turn paper over. Trim edge. and flip your fabric over. No. 4 With your fabric side upwards once again. Place fabric No. 3 on top of your first fabric and pin in position. Turn over and sew along your line This shows third piece ready to be sewn [ATTACH=CONFIG]12206[/ATTACH] Showing the sewing lines. plus 2 stitches over the pointed edge. Unfortunately, Picture No. 4 is out of cinque and needs to be moved up one place. Cannīt seem to do anything about that.
No. 5. Trim your edge and Flip your fabric into position. Place your 4th fabric into position. Take care that it should be on the line over your point just sewn. Sorry seem to have missed this picture. Sew along the line from edge to edge. Turn over and trim your seams. Now continue pinning your pieces into position and sewing in this manner till you cover the paper. Here is a picture of 6 in position. All 6 in position and ready to go again. Okay Fancy foot, you see there are loads of ways to do things, as long as the end result is what your aiming for that is great.

Thanks for taking the time to do this demonstration for us! I tried doing the 2 squares into 4 triangles with paper piecing (I think LOL) and it worked great! Will never go back to piecing each individual triangle again. Awesome technique! I used it for my first sample block of the bear's paw and I think for the first try it turned out pretty good if I do say so myself. |
