I have a very small stash, I am already bursting out of the one very small storage space to put it into. But I'm wondering for those of you that have a stash.....how did/do you get it? When you go to Joanns/online/LQS do you buy stuff you like and think you may use? I know Joanns/Hancocks has stuff on clearance and then they have sales on that....do you buy it then even if you dont know what to use it for?

Just wondering, Thanks!!

I buy things that I like, colors I like, but usually buy fabrics on sale. Especially if I can hit a great sale, I buy the colors I think I will use.
Um, I rarely ever have a project in mind and I have a substancial stach.

I don't have a huge stash either. I buy what I like, in colors I like. I'm a sucker for fat quarters. I have lot of those.

I got rid of most of my stash last year by not buying new fabric for over a year and donating to schools.. I am building up again slowly but am really enjoying it. If I like fabric I buy 1 meter ie. 39 1/2". If I love it I buy 2-3 meters.

I buy when it is on sale - I buy what I want - I buy when I have extra money  So now I have a pretty nice stash  Much to my sons dismay  LOL

I buy the colours and designs I like in the sales. I also make sure I have a lot of blenders in the stash too. Folded neatly, it stacks neatly and doesn't take up too much room. It's great to go shopping in my own home when I want to create a new project!

Sounds silly to a non quilter but I buy what speaks to me. If it's on sale I just buy more of it! I have bought fabric that I never thought I would use but I loved it....sure enough sooner or later it finds it's way home into a quilt.

Sales, I buy what strikes me... then I seldom have to buy much to go with it at regular price for projects.

Stocking up on tonals/blenders helps too as they come on sale, they are easy to match up to prints.

Buy backing fabrics when you find great sales too :D:D:D
