When doing the Christmas Ornament Swap, it dawned on me that all the ornaments are SO cute it would be great to have a collection to display in my quilting room....but I then realized Christmas doesn’t last all year! I then started trying to think of something else small enough to collect and thought of small magnets! I have done some research on different types of magnets and have links as examples. Like the ornaments, the magnets would allow members to showcase their individual talents. Magnets could be crocheted, painted, sewn, but quilted is the preferred medium.
I was even able to find a link with instructions for making a very easy and inexpensive magnet board. This would be an easy swap for beginners. Here are the guidelines: 1. Sign up by 12:01 AM on January 31st. Please do not sign up until you have your magnet(s) finished. 2. I will have partners assigned by February 5th 3. The mail out due date will not be no later than February 15th. 4. Magnets should not be larger than 4” square/diameter. 5. Please make sure to enclose a note to let your partner know who you are. 6. Once you receive your magnet, please make every effort to send a PM to me and your partner letting us know you received your magnet and thanking them. 7. If possible, please post a picture of the magnet(s) you receive and a public thank you to your partner. 8. Each person can do up to two magnets. 9. This will be a direct person to person mailing. I will not collect mailing addresses. Once I've assigned the partners, they should exchange that information between themselves by PM. 10. This swap will include international members, so if mailing internationally is a concern for you, please let me know in a PM. 11. If you would like to participate, please PM me the following information: Screen name # of magnets that you want to swap (1 or 2) 12. Please CAREFULLY read the guidelines for all swaps on the board at this link http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-20154-1.htm 13. Here is our Activity Page that I will keep updated with who all is swapping, etc.: http://www.quiltingboard.com/group_a...sp?gracnum=103 Here are some links to give you some ideas: Quilted Magnets for our Mini Quilt lovers: http://www.flickr.com/photos/acardaday/4874819814/ Little fake candies for our painters: http://www.flickr.com/photos/33978802@N04/3332642109 Glass Gem Magnets http://www.wholesalersusainc.com/Ref...r_Magnets.html Felt Chicken Magnets http://ibbyskibby.wordpress.com/2008...bout-chickens/ Crocheted magnets http://www.etsy.com/listing/14477140...ref=v1_other_2 Cross stitch magnet http://craftideasforall.blogspot.com...1_archive.html Button Magnets http://urbancomfort.typepad.com/urba...n-magnets.html Hex Magnets http://pinwheelponders.blogspot.com/...n-hexagon.html And to help you make a display for all your lovely magnets, here is a tutorial on how to make a VERY easy and cheap magnet board: http://sewmanyways.blogspot.com/sear...netic%20boards Thanks so much and I look forward to hearing from ya'll! |
