:-) Greetings Everyone
I am making rag quilts for my nine grandkids ages 1 to 20. I have been making them out of flannel but I was told there are some kinds of cotton that work for rag quilts. Could someone tell me what kind that is? one-cent |
I use cotton fabric that I would quilt with, with flannel in the middle and have been quite pleased with the results.
Homespun apparently rags even better. Fleece will not rag, nor will t-shirt fabric. Cheers, K |
my absolute favorite rag quilt that I made ( :) I've only made 3) had flannels, cottons, and some jeans. Turned out fun. Ragged up great!
|
Regular quilting cotton will too... just cut the edges on the diagonal :D:D:D
|
I have made rag quilts with cotton, levi, and flannel. I still like the flannel because they are warm and cuddly and rag so well.
|
I like to use old blue jeans and flannel with no batting.

Homespun, yarn dyed cotton--similar to homespun, denim, corduroy, muslin, calico, flannel, etc. Anything that frays or unravels should work. Some people even use a combination of materials.
